Getting Organized

Once you have decided on your intended audience and the event, it's time to organize your photos. We suggest the following guidelines:

1. Group photos by year, decade, or units of time.

2. Group photos by event.

3. Group photos chronologically.

4. Group photos by theme.

5. Or maybe you don't want to group your photos at all. Leaving it to the Slides of Life team is fine also. An extra fee will apply.

Note: Any item that can be scanned can be used (greeting cards, invitations, napkins, announcements, newspaper articles, certificates, ribbons, etc.)

Before You Begin, Consider
These Questions

1. How long do you want your video to be?

2. Will your video include both photos and video clips?

3. Do you want to include captions?

4. For wedding videos, will the bride's childhood photos be separate from the groom's, or will they be entertwined?

5. Or, maybe you don't really have any idea, and you want to let the Slides of Life team create your video for you . . . that is fine too. An extra fee will apply.

Photo Selection/Numbering

Slides of Life offers two options for submitting photos:

1. You can scan your own photos or have them scanned at a local photo lab (a discount of $.20 per photo is allowed)

2. You can also send your actual photos to us to be scanned (included in all package prices).

Hints for Scanning Photos

1. If you scan your own photos, make sure to clean the scanner first!

2. Set the scanning resolution to 600 dpi.

3. Save each photo in .jpg format. Name each photo with a 3 digit number in the order you'd like them to appear.

4. Send us a CD of your photos or use a public site (first, ensure the resolution is 400-600 dpi on the photos you will upload).

5. If you are sending your actual photos, use a sticky note and number them the way you'd like them to appear. Do not write on the photos as the ink or pencil may rub off onto other photos.

* Choose photos that evoke laughter or emotion.

* Choose action shots.

* Choose close-ups or far-away shots.

* Do not crop photos.

* Items over 8x10 inches incur additional charges.

* Remove photos from frames, scrap books,
  and photo albums.
